“Your brand isn’t what you say it is. It’s what they say it is.” – Marty Neumeier
For at least a decade, we have been hearing people say that they don’t know what the Democratic platform even is and that all the left does is complain about Trump. We don’t agree with that sentiment, but as marketing professionals, we have to acknowledge that if people say it, it’s true.
That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a difference between fact and fiction – there is. It means that if you think your brand is thing 1 and most people think it’s thing 2, your brand is thing 2. While Democrats think that the platform has been clearly outlined, we have to acknowledge it clearly hasn’t…because people aren’t clear on it.
So let’s talk. Let’s talk about big ideas and small ones. Let’s talk about great ideas, good ideas, and ideas with potential. Let’s talk about the why behind those ideas, the things we know, and the things we don’t. Let’s talk about when good ideas become good laws. And let’s also talk about it when good ideas become bad laws, or didn’t work out how we thought they might.
Because, make no mistake, these aren’t just good ideas: these are ideas that are LEFT.
